Govt approves support for Czech expatriates - Prague Daily Monitor
PRAGUE, Dec 14 (CTK) - The government today approved a five- year programme of support for Czech expatriates living abroad, the government press section has informed CTK.

The state support will cover language courses in the Czech Republic held for expatriates and salaries of Czech teachers in expatriates' communities abroad, as well as repairs of their schools and culture centres.

This is an interesting move given how the expatriates have generally been treated by successive Czech governments.

The largest Czech community is living in the US where some 1.3 million Czech nationals were registered in 1990, followed by Slovakia, Canada, Croatia and Australia where tens of thousands of Czechs live.
