Czech Republic does not have working poor, according to Eurostat - Prague Daily Monitor
Czechs and Hungarians who have a job are almost never poor, against 8 percent of poor working people in Luxembourg, the EU's statistical office Eurostat has said. The Mesec.cz site, citing data from Eurostat, says poor people are those with income lower than 60 percent of the median wage.
"Wage differences in the Czech Republic deepen gradually, but they are still among the lowest in Europe," Patria Finance analyst David Marek told CTK.
An interesting fact that might explain some other facts about the Czech Republic, such as the content of the left-wing agenda.
The article also contained other interesting information.
The average monthly net salary in the Czech Republic is about CZK 13,700, but the median wage is only CZK 10,800, which means those with net income worth CZK 6,480 and less are poor.
The minimum wage is CZK 7,185 and the net wage of a childless Czech getting the minimum wage is CZK 5,800, said Mesec.cz analyst Petr Gola.
Only two percent of Czechs get wages lower than CZK 8,000 a month and about one percent work for the minimum wage, but most of them have children and their actual income is therefore higher, said Gola.
