Czech police want businessmen Kozeny, Vostry to be tried
The Czech police have asked the state attorney to file charges against Viktor Kožený and Boris Vostrý, Czech-born businessmen who have been prosecuted on suspicion of fraud, anti-corruption police squad spokeswoman Jana Pinkova said.

This is a little glimpse into recent Czech history that brought us democracy but also words such as 'kuponová privatizace', 'vytunelovat' (asset stripping - based on the image of tunnelling under a company to run away with the silver) and 'tunelář' (asset stripper - not as sexy as it sounds).

Viktor Kožený's (currently residing in the Bahamas) name, in particular, will be forever connected with the history of privatization in the Czech Republic and his infamous Harvard Funds.

In the Czech Republic, Kozeny and Vostry are suspected of having transferred assets worth 13.6 billion crowns from the Harvard Investment Funds and the Sklo Union Teplice company in 1995-97, thus harming the holding, which subsequently went bankrupt.
