Czech polar station in Antarctic completed
Brno- The Czech scientific polar station on Ross Island in Antarctica has been completed, project head Pavel Prosek from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Brno's Masaryk University told CTK today. The station, called after famous Czech geneticist and meteorologist Johan Gregor Mendel (1822-1884), will fully serve its scientific purposes during the south polar summer, that is at the turn of November and December 2006.
Too bad we don't have the Czech navy anymore. It could have ferried explorers to this station. It joins the Egyptological excavations in Abusir in the list of unlikely places to find Czech experts.
