Project to improve prostitutes' health marks 10th anniversary - Prague Daily Monitor
Domažlice, West Bohemia, Oct 21 (CTK) - There are now about 80 brothels along the Czech-Bavarian border and hundreds of prostitutes offer their services in the streets, says Alena Ouředníková from the Plzeň Bishopric.

Hard to say whether this reflects badly on Czechs, the Germans or the law of supply and demand. But it is true that the situation on the Czech-German border is pretty grim and it's nice to see someone is doing something non-law enforcement about it.

Jana [the name of the project - a typical Czech woman's name] was launched 10 years ago in reaction to prostitution that started to flourish along the 300 kilometre long Czech-Bavarian border after the fall of the previous regime in then Czechoslovakia in 1989.
