Czech historians map out fates of August 1968 invasion victims 72 people died between August 21 and September 3, 1968 alone during the demonstrations the Czechs and Slovaks held in protest against the occupation. The historians have released a list of names of more than 80 people killed at the time, including their brief CVs. Five victims still remain unidentified. Most of them died outside the Czechoslovak Radio building in Prague where the toughest clashes flared up between the invading troops and Praguers on the first day of the occupation. The troops of five countries of the Eastern Bloc crossed the Czechoslovak borders at night on August 20-21, 1968, without the knowledge of the then Czechoslovak state bodies.
