When one sees "4+kk" or "2+kk" in a property advert, what does kk stand for, and is the number (4 or 2) generally the number of rooms, or just the number of bedrooms?

"kk" stands for "kuchyňský koutek," that is, a "kitchen corner." I've never knowingly lived in an arrangement with a kk, but apparently in the extreme case, these can really live up to their name; see for example http://www.praguepost.com/articles/2005/09/21/faking-it.php.
I am not a realtor, but I'm pretty sure that the numerical part is the number of rooms. This is not counting bathrooms and WCs. Note that bathrooms and WCs are not necessarily one room in Czech, unlike in America and thus perhaps, though perhaps not, in Britain as well.
