ajoy!
a few weeks ago i decided to teach myself Czech, i just got so overwhelmed with all the words! i remember when i was in French class, we started out with the basics; colors, numbers, some words, greetings, months, days, etc.
i have most of them down already. but where do i go from there? i have flash cards..but what else?
any advice, anyone?? PLEASE! if you could, please email; shellybarkhurst_64@hotmail.com

Shelly - I'm in the same boat but I think flash cards are a waste of time - its such a complicated language that you just need to immerse yourself into it and try to absorb anything. Hopefully things stick eventually. Maybe get some czech music and listen to it or go online and listen to czech news. Travel there and force yourself to try basic expressions and see what develops. Otherwise you might as well go to school for years.
I visited Czech Rep Dec last year I could not speak a word of Czech. I stayed with my boyfriends family, they didn't speak a word of English.
When I came back to the UK I promised myself to learn as much as I can before we go back again (June this year). So I purchased a beginners Czech language book and CD, got a book from the library, and found some useful websites.
Have a Czech boyfriend has helped, however, because we both speak in English, it's still a slow process :-(
