This quiz is intended to get you started along your path towards learning enough about the Czech Republic to satisfy the above quote. It was originally prepared for Orientation for a Semester Abroad program run by Collegium Hieronymi Pragensis. You can review relevant information in the original slideshow either before or after you take the quiz (or even better, both before and after.

Meh, 90% is too hard. I bet many Czechs would not beat 80%.

(I think I would have scored 70%.)

 

At least, it's too hard as a criterion for just "not making a fool out of yourself." I doubt any Czech would be surprised at even another Czech not having the nation's Nobel Prize winners down pat, for example, let alone at a foreigner not knowing them.

You're probably right that many Czechs wouldn't do that well on the quiz (particularly some of the dates). But remember that often different criteria are applied to the knowledge (and language) of foreigners. Some of these questions are just gimmicks to get people's knowledge up rather than a strict test. So the 90% is more about the general areas rather than about the specific questions. But in response to your critique. I will change it to 70%
